ABOUT ATLAS
Compassion goes a long way, and we work hard to prioritize that throughout every service. We want you to feel good about yourself and your hair.
We're an independent studio founded by beloved Chicago hairdresser Alyssa Ploger, and we service clients, friends, and family (or something like that).
Alyssa loves helping people find a style that fits their own unique styling regimen that feels authentic to their lifestyle and person.
Atlas Salon is LGBTQIA+ and services all people. We offer gender-neutral services and if you ever have any questions or accomodations, please reach out to us!
We offer one-on-one appointments which promote a private and quieter experience than typical salons. Many of our clients have been with us for nearly a decade and travel near and far for our services.
Consultations are usually done same-day for basic services. Extensive color services or extension services require consultations in advance.
ABOUT ALYSSA
Alyssa has a decade of experience as a professional hairstylist. She trained at Paul Mitchell the School in Chicago, graduating with honors in Cutting, Color, and Texture and earning the distinction of being the only student to graduate on the Dean’s List in 2014.
After graduation, Alyssa landed her first job at the Hair Loft ltd. as an assistant/protégé. She went through an extensive two-year apprenticeship and earned her spot as a stylist in March of 2016. Within her first year behind the chair, she became the highest-earning rookie stylist the salon had seen to date.
Alyssa decided to follow her dream of becoming an independent stylist and opened Atlas in 2019. She regularly takes new classes and does research to refine her craft and stay up-to-date on styling trends.
In 2021, Alyssa married her partner and best friend Shawn. Along with their cat Baci, Alyssa and Shawn have called the north-side home for the last decade.
